Biwott returns to Frankfurt, where he won on his marathon debut
The 2024 winner faces Germany's three fastest marathoners on 25 October, and Marion Kibor runs the women's race.
In short: Kenya's Benard Biwott, who won the Frankfurt Marathon in 2024, races the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon again on Sunday 25 October 2026 against Germany's Amanal Petros, Samuel Fitwi and Richard Ringer, RunBlogRun reported.
Benard Biwott won the Frankfurt Marathon in 2024 in 2:05:54, in his first marathon. He returns to the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday 25 October, RunBlogRun and The Eastleigh Voice report.
Biwott won the Paris Marathon in 2025, improving his best to 2:05:25, and was ninth in Cape Town this year.
Germany's three fastest marathoners, as RunBlogRun describes them, top the men's field: Amanal Petros, the German record holder (2:04:03), Samuel Fitwi (2:04:45) and Richard Ringer (2:04:47). It is the first city marathon in which all three have lined up together. Ethiopia's Andualem Belay (2:04:44) is also entered. "We are not presenting them a victory on a plate," race director Jo Schindler said, according to The Eastleigh Voice.
In the women's race, Kenya's Marion Kibor ran 2:21:12 in Hamburg this year. Ethiopia's Zeineba Yimer (2:18:47) has the fastest best. The field also includes Betsy Saina of the USA and Ethiopia's Buzunesh Getachew, the 2023 Frankfurt winner.
